Twin Flame as a concept is based on idea that two people share the same soul which splits into two halves with separate bodies. These two bodies when they meet get intense attraction and yearning to be together. That these two people are meant to be together and never fall apart and when they meet the universe will conspire to bring them together. As romantic and passionate as this sounds this concept is not really backed by vedic astrology or vedic school of philosophies.
Some schools of vedic philosophy believe atma(soul) is part of paramatma(supreme soul/God) while some other vedic philosophies believe atma and paramatma are same and not distinct from each other. In simple words your only real Twin Flame is Parmatma aka God/Creator. That is why final goal of Sanatan Dharma aka Hinduism is regarded as moksha where the atma reunites with paramatma or perhaps the atma realizes its true divine nature as paramatma. Either way a mortal body cannot be your Twin Flame atleast according to vedic philosophies.
Vedic astrology doesn't really believe in Twin Flame either. Marriage partner in vedic astrology is governed by seventh house which is the house of contracts. Seventh house which defines spouse is exact opposite house to ascendant which defines self. And this seventh house is opposite in terms of mannerisms and traits as well.
The marriage partner defined by seventh house is meant to share karma with you in this birth and not necessarily across multiple births and rebirths. Marriage partner carries exact opposite energy of individual. In short he/she is Yin to your Yang and Yang to your Yin energy.
Even the elements of individual defined by ascendant and partner defined by seventh house are opposites. For example: A person with Aries/Leo/Sagittarius Ascendant will have fire element in abundance while their partner defined by Libra/Aquarius/Gemini will have wind element in abundance. Similarly individuals with Taurus/Virgo/Capricorn ascendants will have earth element in abundance while their partner defined by Scorpio/Pisces/Cancer will have water element in abudance.
Vedic astrology does accept that marriage is governed by prarabdha(fate) and you only marry someone you are destined to be with. Having said that the connection is governed by karma and past lives. Vedic astrology does not believe that the other part of your soul resides in someone else's body. That when you two meet everything will end up in perfect sychronization and that universe will move to align you together.
If and when such attraction happens and if you feel the universe is showing you the signs than understand it is fate at work and not necessarily that universe cares about you ending up together. That fate has destined you to share karma either good or bad with that person.
Vedic astrology puts great emphasis on balancing energies and element to make marriage work. For example: Native with Aries Ascendant have restless energy and abundance of fire element while their partner defined by Libra has calming energy and abundance of wind element. For marriage to last there needs to be an effort to avoid being too restless or too relaxed. Similarly wind element of spouse can cause fire element of individual to cause chaos, burn efficiently or put out fire totally. It all depends on individual and his/her spouse. The couple who successfully balances their energies and elements tend to stay strong inspite of difficulties and challenges.
There will be times in marriage when one person's energy and element dominates the proceedings in marriage. There will also be marriages where an individual puts more energy into making the marriage work as compared to his/her spouse. The condition of ascendant, seventh house and overall condition of horoscope gives a good idea how to achieve the right balance after marriage.
As explained above vedic astrology did not put much emphasis on Twin Flame as its concept does not align with vedic school of thought. However there maybe a similar concept where there is intense attraction possible on platonic, emotional, physical, intellectual level or perhaps a desire to seek forbidden love. It is caused by Venus in individual's horoscope being influenced by a planet in horoscope chart of spouse or lover. We will cover this issues in detail in a very short time.
This article is not really meant to bash the concept of Twin Flame. It is written with sole purpose of making readers understand that No Marriage Is Perfect. Do not marry under the illusion that your marriage partner is another part of your soul who is meant to complete you. That your marriage will work out like a fairy tale from start to end.
A successful marriage requires both individual and spouse to work on differences and adjust to each other's shortcomings. Marriage requires compromises and leaving ego aside. Marriage requires both individuals to fight against all odds to stay together. As Dave Meurer rightly says: Marriage is not when the perfect couple comes together but when the imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
